We use two types of selenite, a product from Morocco and another from the Crystalline Phoenix mine in New Mexico. The Moroccan type is relatively soft and easier to carve. It does have a tendency to splinter while being worked. It is what most selenite pieces on the market today are made from. 

The other type, Crystalline Phoenix, is much harder and has a tendency to split into layers as it is being worked. This is the natural state of it as it is formed in layers. This makes it difficult to carve as even files can cause separation of the layers. 

The Crystalline Phoenix selenite has been tested at 244MHz. It is very high vibrational and used in healing and metaphysical centers all over the world. It is more expensive and takes much longer to create a quality energy tool, hence the price difference in the two types.

Selenite is used for clearing energy, directing energy and for protection. It never needs to be cleared and will clear the energy of other crystals and gemstones.
